Rogue Agent
Good evening everybody! Last weekend (3/30 – 4/1) I attended a boot camp with RedpoleQ. Here is my field report (I apologize for the lateness). I also have to apologize for the lack of detail. Everything about that weekend was something of a blur. Pick-Up tends to be like that for me. Other than some logistical shenanigans, Friday night started off pretty well. (Thanks again to PM for finding me.) I felt good and excited to be there. I had to arrive several hours late due to my work schedule, but me and RPQ already worked that out before hand. RPQ took us into some night clubs in hongdae. This was my first time into a night club. They were no where near as difficult to get into as I had imagined. Unfortunately one of them was so crowed, the entire club was basically one giant mosh pit. Some of the more interesting approaches of the night was a super cute two set I winged on and practiced some kino with. Also there was another set I opened where everything I said the girl responded by cursing in Korea, and getting more and more angry each time. Eventually she just ran away from me. Oh, fun times... Saturday afternoon, RPQ took us to COEX. I was really tired from the night before, and I learned an important lesson – make sure to drink plenty of fluids before game! I had a few interesting sets there, but nothing spectacular. Saturday night is when things get really interesting! After a few hours of desperately trying to find some real food and a place to rest for a little bit, RPQ took us out to Ellui. (Did I spell that right?) Anyway, that was an amazing place! After a few hours, the smoke and loud music started to make me incredibly sick, but I very much want to go again. After I've had some rest, though. I wound up straining my voice and yelling at the students isn't making it better. But despite that, I managed to open and hold on to some sets for a good amount of time and get some serious kino on at least one set. I really need to work on my time bridges though. My greatest success came Sunday afternoon. RPQ took us to Sincheon (is that the right name?) for some day game. Opening seated sets in the coffee shop was a little new to me, but moving sets on the sidewalk was something that I could already do, and do well. But towards the end there, I opened a seated 3-set in a coffee shop. I was BT spiking my target and qualifying her very well, and my kino was fantastic. After watching that, RPQ said he needed to work on his kino! :D Unfortunately there was something said in Korean and the group left. I guess I just need to work on my Korean more. Overall, this weekend helped me tighten up my game and let me break through the kino barrier. I just hope I can stay in that zone. Next, I need to expand my stack of BT spikes and qualification, and definitely improving on my time bridging (and seeding). Comments or questions? I'll do the best I can. RedpoleQ
Good work, man! Looking forward to working with you more and really getting you where you want to be with your game. Fun times in that last set...I'm surprised you didn't mention the 2-set of Engineering students from CoEx though and also that 2-set that you winged in the 2nd club on the first night who had the thing in her hair. Remember the set that Brett opened?
